Explorers
“Our daughter has attended this lovely nursery from the age of 4 months old and is extremely happy here. The team in Explorers are very kind, attentive, enthusiastic and passionate about caring for the children.
Always lots of fun & games going on, inside & outside, which is great to see during the day via the nursery app, where their achievements & observations are updated regularly. ” Caroline – Mum
Our Explorers are the youngest children in the nursery. They join us from 3 months old and stay until they are turning two. It is all about navigating the journey from being a little baby to a confident toddler. There is lots of space for our young Explorers to live in including a peaceful cot room, their own dining room, two big rooms for free flow that include an indoor sandpit, stimulating sensory corner, story area and lots of opportunities for messy play. We also have free flow to outside from the main rooms as well as the Explorers garden.
Our Approach
When babies join us, our first focus is on building a close connection between them and their key person so they can feel safe and nurtured from day one. We start this by building a strong relationship with parents. We learn as much as possible about the individual baby. We want to know how they are comforted, their routines, their favourite things to do and what they do and don’t like to eat. We continue this dialogue and close connection with families to make sure that each baby follows the rhythms and routines that their parents want for them.
Our aim is to maximise the development potential of every child. We do this with a combination of adult led learning and the creation of child led learning opportunities. We believe in the environment as the third educator and every week we create exciting new invitations to learn in the room. We make sure that once our babies are engaged that we step back to observe and jot down which skills they need to develop. We take photos of the skills they have mastered and we share these with parents through the EYLog app. We use heuristic play sessions to create peaceful and reflective time where we can identify the schemas our babies follow so that we can use these to inform the future activities which will support their development.
